HARD HITTING, HARD LIVING, BASEBALL LEGEND
MANTLE, Mickey “The Mick” – (1931-1995) American baseball player who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. Mantle played his entire 18-year major-league pro career for the New York Yankees, winning 3 American League MVP titles and playing for 16 All-Star teams. He played on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship clubs. Mantle still holds the record for most World Series home runs, RBIs, runs, walks, extra-base hits and total bases. Mantle is legendary for a hard-hitting sports career and life. Plagued by business deals gone bad, failing health due to alcoholism, addiction to painkillers and years of physical punishment from playing the sport, Mantle was forced to retire from the sport. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. Mantle is oft-remembered for quoting football legend Bobby Layne who remarked ‘if I’d known I was gonna live this long, I’d have taken a lot better care of myself.”

Autograph display piece consisting of a signed 8”x10” color glossy photo of Mantle in his batting stance at spring training, signed in blue felt tip pen. Photograph has been double-mated along with a MLB NY Yankees woolen logo as well as a Beckett graded 10 2006 Topp's baseball card. Ensemble has been further conserved under archival glass and a sleek, blue, wooden frame.
Collectors and dealers, alike, are concerned with the growing incidence of forgery among sports memorabilia and for good cause. We have gone the final inning to ensure that what we offer is unconditionally guaranteed. The photograph is in near mint condition and backed by the guarantee of R&R Enterprise Autograph Auctions. COA from R&R accompanies the photograph as well as an auction Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA. Finally, we commissioned our own authentication review by forensic handwriting expert, Richard Simon. $ 995
